The brain child of Antonis Antoniou, Buzz’ Ayaz stays true to its heritage and locale: setting out to unite the divided city of Nicosia, no less. The band members come from both sides of the capital’s divide to administer a heady mix of dubby electronics, 70s-psych organ, growling bass clarinet, amplified folk instruments, ritual beats and Greek and Anatolian melodicism that echoes above the concrete walls and checkpoints.
